We're Pet Friendly!

At the Ambassador Hotel, we understand family, in all it's various shapes and sizes. We know your pets are important to you and we want to make them comfortable during their stay in Amarillo. In fact, our mascot is a German Shepherd named Haylie. (pronounced Hay-Lie, from the old song "...my boyfriend's back and you're gonna be in trouble...hay-lie, hay-lie...my boyfriend's back.") More about Haylie below...

We hope your four-legged friends will join you at the Ambassador Hotel during your stay in Amarillo, Texas. We can't think of a better thing to share than the love of our families.

Meet Haylie

Haylie is about eight years old and belongs to Phyllis Payne, the general manager, who rescued her from the animal shelter the day she was to be put to death. That was six years ago.

Haylie hangs out in the administration offices at the hotel when she's not calling on hospice patients, visiting the elderly in retirement homes, joining Phyllis in speaking to civic groups about pet therapy, or helping round up livestock at the ranch (really). Her hotel career became official a few years ago when a British tour group fell in love with her and assumed she was a staff member. Haylie even has her own business cards that say "Therapy Dog, Hotel Greeter, Cattle Herder".
